Obituary for Shirley Mae Paige

Shirley Mae Paige, 79 of Norfolk, Virginia entered into eternal rest at home on Monday, March 20, 2017 with the same grace and dignity with which she lived. Born in Norfolk on December 27, 1937 to the late Wilbert Hairston and Margaret Virginia Hairston, Shirley had one sister Annie Faulks, who preceded her in death. She also had a brother, who died at birth. She was married to Edward Richard Paige for forty-seven (47) years. Shirley leaves to celebrate her life six (6) children; Althea Belinda (Bebop)Boffman, Pamela Lynnette Boffman (Lamb), Daryl Anton Boffman, Sr. (wife Maria), Pamela Jean (Lil Pam)Dixon (Foy), Katrina Lynn Boffman (Brown) and Edward Aaron Boffman (wife Tracie); Seventeen (17) grand-children and eleven (11) great grand-children. Shirley was an awesome gospel singer and was the lead vocalist for three (3) songs on the Mason Memorial Church Choir album released in 1974. Shirley was also well known for her cooking ministry. She would often use her cooking to bring people together to fellowship. She would cook often and would serve anyone. She has opened her home to people from all walks of life and was known to provide food, shelter, clothing, advice and much love to young people. Many people accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior as a result of Shirley’s passionate ministering. Shirley attended Booker T. Washington High School and worked for Norfolk Public Schools as a food service personnel. She also provided home daycare. A Home Going Celebration is scheduled to take place at noon on Monday, March 27, 2017 at her home church of New Life Worship Center located at 925 Briar Hill Road, Norfolk, Virginia 23502. A wake will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 1 to 5 pm at Graves Funeral Home located at 1631 Church Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23504.
