Mr. Alexander (Calvin) Harrell made his heavenly transition to glory on Thursday, April 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Deloris Harrell; parents, William Thomas Linwood Harold and Ida Lee Harold; brothers, John Harold, William T. Harold, Jr., Ernest L. Harold; sisters, Audrey Benjamin, Alma Harold, Bernice H. Willie and Ida Mae Harold. He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Alexander “Corky” Harrell (Dillis) of Chesapeake; a special daughter, Chrystall Elliott Smith of Norfolk; a step son, Jesse Winfield (Eve); brother, Elder Clarence N. Harold (Ressie); sisters, Joyce H. Walton and Lucille O. Ivy; a God-sister, St. Flora L. Cornick; a grandson, Alejendro Harrell as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and loving friends that will miss him dearly. He worked as a Merchant Seaman where he retired after 25 years of service. Calvin was also a Longshoreman assigned to Local I.L.A. Number 1248. Calvin worked tirelessly for the Church. Calvin was a devoted member of the United House of Prayer where he proudly became a Deacon. True to his spirit to the end, he waged a steadfast battle with dementia. A celebration of his life will begin at 11a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at the United House of Prayer located on Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. Friends may join the family for a visitation, Thursday evening April 20, 2017 from 1-7p.m. at Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk, VA. Interment will be at Rosewood Memorial Park, in VA Bch, VA.
