Obituary for James Walter Jones Jr.

James W. Jones, Jr. (Lil Jimmy), was born on February 3, 1973 to Joann Hunt and James Jones, Sr. Our hearts were saddened the day God called Jimmy home into eternal rest.

Jimmy, as he was affectionately called, attended the Chesapeake Public School System, Norfolk Public School System; and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk. While in high school, he played basketball and received an award for being an All American Basketball Player. He furthered his education at Norfolk State University, majoring in Early Childhood Education.

He worked at a recycling company and loved doing what he needed to do to be a great support for his family. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; and could light up the room with his smile, when he walked in.

Jimmy attended Calvary Revival Church, Norfolk in earlier years, and served in the Usher Ministry. Once he moved to South Carolina, he faithfully began attending Mason Temple Church, with his wife. He grew a passion for God’s Word and had a love for the scriptures.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Nicole; his children, Taniyah McClain, Tiara, Tra, & Tasia Lynch, also Tanell, Tru'Ed, Tasha and Tony Green, Jr.; grandchildren, Tonia & Tyler Green; mother, Joann Hunt; father, Pastor James Jones (Deaconess Shelia Jones); three sisters, Kimberly (Tony), Angel Hunt, and Shenna Jones; two brothers, Jonathan Jones and Kevin Stanley; four sisters in law; and four brothers in law; a special god-son, Larry and a special friend, his Road Dog, Tiarra; a special cousin, Laverne “Bebe” Harvey; a host of other aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, a special niece (Kymiah), loved ones and friends.
