Obituary for Celestine V. Cason

Mrs. Celestine V. Cason was born on December 3, 1925 to Willie Bond and Elizabeth Banks in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the third of five children, three of whom preceded her in death (Lenious Bond, James Bond and Geraldine Chapman). On May 6, 2017, she died in Bowie, Maryland.
Mrs. Cason was a 1943 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She kept in contact with her classmates and attended many of their reunions.
In 1944, she married the love of her life, LeRoy Cason. From their union she had one child, Cynthia. They were married 72 years.
Mrs. Cason retired as a clerk from the Norfolk Naval Base. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and doing puzzles. She was also an excellent seamstress.
As a long time and active member of Historic First Baptist Church of Bute Street, she served on the Senior Women’s Usher Board and the Willing Workers. She was recognized for her service with the First Baptist Girl Scout Troop, receiving an outstanding service award.
Mrs. Cason leaves behind her loving husband, LeRoy Cason; daughters Cynthia Davenport and Harryette Irving; sister, Eliza Irving; brother-in-law, Theodore Cason; grandsons Edward Davenport (TjaMeika) and Jearld Davenport (Patrice); granddaughter, Denise Scott; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
