Obituary for Leroy Vernon Sumner

Leroy Vernon Sumner was born on July 16th, 1978 in Norfolk, VA. to Lloyd Sr (Ella) Sumner and was called home to be with the Lord on September 8th, 2017. Leroy graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1996. Soon after graduating Leroy began working for QVC in Suffolk, VA. And continued to work there for over 15 years until he was forced to resign due to illness, where he made many friends who he also considered family.

Everyone that knew Leroy knew that he loved five things. First and foremost, Leroy loved and believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Leroy loved helping people, assisting in any way possible, supporting his team the Washington Redskins (win, lose or tie he never gave up on them) anytime they played, fishing, he could be found at the James River Pier overnight and most importantly his Family. Leroy’s life revolved around loving and supporting his family especially his niece and nephews, whom he loved as his own.

Leroy leaves to cherish his precious memories his father, Lloyd Sumner Sr of Virginia Beach VA, Brothers Lloyd Jr. (Darleen) of Virginia Beach, VA Anthony (Kenisha) of Hampton VA, Niece; Danitra of Atlanta GA Nephews; Lloyd III (Brooke) of Portsmouth VA. Anthony Jr. of Hampton VA and Christopher of Hampton VA. As well as a host of cousins and his work family from QVC. He is preceded in death by his mother Ella Sumner, sister Crystal Sumner & brother Angelo Sumner.

A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am September 16 at Graves Funeral Home, (1631 Church Street, Norfolk VA. 23504) followed by the interment at Roosevelt Memorial Park (1101 Campostella Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23320) with a repass to follow at Norview Baptist Church (1127 Norview Ave, Norfolk, VA 23513). Pastor Joshua N. King Sr. of Zion Baptist Church (Hampton) will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Leroy's life.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sentara Advanced Heart Failure Clinic for their care of Leroy. The outpouring of love and support from his many friends and coworkers.
