On Monday, November 13, 2017, the Almighty God called Willis Deloatch home to rest as he laid sleeping peacefully.
He was born on March 10, 1938 to Thomas Atkins and Magnolia Flythe in Norfolk, Virginia.
Willis graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He spent a short – time in the Army and was Honorably Discharged. He worked as a truck driver for Air Con & Metal Distributing Company and as a security guard for Jennette Detective Agency. He later went back to school to get credentials to start his own company; Willis Heating and Air Conditioning with his son, Gene Ronnell. His strong belief in hard work affirmed his motto of “If you do a job, do it right the first time.” He lived by his motto and gave 40 years of outstanding service in heating and air conditioning.
He believed in family and friends. If you were his friend, you were a friend for life. He loved grilling out in the back yard, most likely with a cup in his hand. He often watched football and couldn’t decide if he liked the Redskins or the Steelers. Boxing was also a favorite.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Thomas Atkins and Magnolia Flythe and his son, Gene Ronnell.
Willis showed his love for his family in many ways. Forever cherishing his love are his wife, Shirley; sons, Gerald, Brian and Keith; daughters, Candice and Rosalyn; a long-time friend, Deana; brothers; sisters; grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
