Obituary for Loretta King (Zinnerman)

Loretta King, 71, was born and raised in Lower Peach Tree Alabama. Loretta ended her earthly journey on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 7:15pm and has now gained her heavenly home.

Loretta was the daughter of the late William David Zinnerman and Mammie McCaskill.

She attended and received her education from Wilcox County Public Schools. Upon graduating High School she attended A&M College in Huntsville, Alabama.

Loretta married Robert Earl King, Sr. on August 13, 1966. Robert and Loretta later moved to Hartford, Connecticut. Shortly after moving to Connecticut, Robert and Loretta started a family and from this union two children were born. On July 26, 1967 Robert, Jr. was the first - born son and the family was completed with the birth of a daughter, Arlene on April 12, 1971.

Loretta worked for Travelers Insurance Agency for several yars then settled into becoming a full - time housewife. She was a member of First Church of The Living God where she sang in the choir. She loved to cook as well as listen and sking various gospel hymns. After the loss of her husband, Robert King, Sr., in 1982, Loretta continued to raise her children as a single mom.

Loretta moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1989.

In 1995 Loretta’s health was challenged with several debilitating illnesses.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Robert E King, Jr. (Shannon) and daughter, Arlene King Jiggetts; grandchildren, Robert E King, III, Shanequa Danyal King, Adave-Via Shamira King, Adryan Breahana Baskin and Ja'Lyn Emon Wortham; great – grandchildren- Jah'Mira J. King and Queen F. King as well as a host of in - laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
