On Wednesday, November 29, 2017 our beloved mother Mrs. Willie Beth Mitchell Scarbor was called home. Mrs. Willie was born on February 27, 1934 to the late Hattie and James Mitchell in Belvidere, NC where she was raised before coming to Norfolk, Virginia.
Upon moving to Norfolk, Virginia, she worked as a housekeeper for the Thomas Nelson Hotel for many years. Mrs. Willie loved to cook and was famous for her seasoned “put her foot in” collard greens, her “mouthwatering” potato salad, and her “gotta be cake” corn bread. She periodically attended the Assembly of the Saints, II Ministries in Norfolk before locating back to Ahoskie, North Carolina to reside.
She is survived by one daughter; Vincie L. Combo, of Norfolk, Virginia; one granddaughter, Shirley L. Hoskins (Willie), of Norfolk, Virginia; five grandsons; Marcellus Mitchell – Fauntleroy (Natrice), of Richmond; Virginia, Artabus Fauntleroy (Karen), of Portsmouth, Virginia; Alley Fauntleroy (Yukeeta), of Norfolk, Virginia; Joseph Fauntleroy (Kero), of Portsmouth, Virginia; and Isaiah Fauntleroy (Barbara Jean), of Pendleton, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Doris Mitchell, Norfolk, Virginia; great grandchildren and great - great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews as well as extended relatives and friends.
