Karen Lynette McNeal was born on November 18th, 1961 in Brooklyn, New York to Shirley and Corston McNeal. Karen sadly and unexpectedly was called home to her lord God, on February 26th, 2018 in Norfolk, Virginia.
She is survived by her sister, Sharon Williams-Toussaint, her daughter, Michon McNeal, her son, Justin McNeal and her six grandchildren: Michelle, Michael and Marcus McNeal-Strong, Askari, Tyler and Jayee McNeal as well as her dear best friend, Terri Satterfield.
Throughout her life, Karen has been a mother, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother a cousin and friend to us all. She was also a caregiver. Karen showed that commitment to others early on by becoming a New York City Correctional Officer, of which she assisted members of her community who needed the most help in social rehabilitation.
Afterwards, she moved to Virginia Beach and pursued a career in the medical field as she also continued to care for her parents in their last years. She dedicated herself to selflessly and tirelessly with taking care of others in need.
Karen’s exuberance and humor is something that defined her presence as well as her smile. Her life has been filled with love, laughter, family and friends who will miss her dearly because of it.
