Allen “Al Apache” Brickhouse, Sr. was born in Norfolk, Va. On October 7, 1941 to Ms. Matilda Brickhouse. He moved from his old house and moved from his old friends to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, April 29, 2018.
Allen grew up in Norfolk and was educated in the Norfolk Public School System. He retired from Tidewater Fiber.
Allen started working at an early age helping his mom in supporting the family. He loved fishing and after retirement he became an avid, amateur gardener, fixer-upper and businessman sponsoring many out of town trips. He always claimed to be the best “horse-shoe” player around. He was a dedicated Cleveland Browns fan and didn’t care who knew it. Allen joined Zion Light Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ of Norfolk many years ago. He was active member of the Usher’s Ministry, Food Bank Ministry and helped in the Clothes Ministry. Allen loved his family and friends but most importantly, he loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength, he loved prayer and to hear God’s Word. As children, Al was the one his sister always ran behind.\
He was predeceased by his mom Matilda Brickhouse, his daughter, Angela Marie Brickhouse, four brothers, James E. Brickhouse, Itemus Brickhouse, Robert Brickhouse of Norfolk, VA, Lenwood Brickhouse of Brooklyn N.Y.
He left behind to cherish precious memories his wife, Ellen Brickhouse, his son, Allen Brickhouse, Jr., grandson, Hakeem Brickhouse, granddaughter, Aahlysha Weaver, one brother, George Brickhouse, one sister, Minister Virginia B. Williams, a very special friend, Lillian Lamb and buddy, Jeremiah Hunter, and many relatives and friends.
