Obituary for Hythenia Fitzgerald Hines (Fitzgerald)

Pat (Fitzgerald) Hines, 63, entered into eternal rest on May 3, 2018, in the company of her loving family and friends. She was born on December 24, 1954 in Norfolk, Virginia to Allen and Hattie Fitzgerald, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1973. In 1975, she married Winfred Hines, with whom she had three beloved children: Toureh’, Anika, and Terrance. They both joined the United States Postal service, from which Pat retired after 30 years of dedication in various roles.

Pat was predeceased by her son, Toureh’ A. Hines, and husband, Winfred “Pete” Hines; her parents; and her brothers, Turner Pierce and Alvin Fitzgerald. She leaves a host of friends and loving family members to cherish her memory—her daughter, Anika L. Hines, and son, Terrance W. Hines; her grandchildren, Toriyon, Amiya, Aniya and Tyree; her brothers, Carl and Wayne (Diana) Fitzgerald; and her sisters, Diane Fitzgerald and Ethel Williams. She also leaves her life partner, Roger Mainor, along with extended family, friends, and co-workers.

Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends, even playing Pinocle and Bid Whist regularly at the Hampton Senior Citizens’ Center. Fun loving and fearless, Pat will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her wit, and her boundless love. She was dependable, tenacious and always willing to sacrifice for others, especially her children and grandchildren.

She is fiercely loved and will be deeply missed.
