Edvena T. Carter peacefully departed from this life at home on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born April 4, 1928, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to the late Horace and Lucille Williams.
Edvena was educated in the Daytona Beach, Florida public school system. Edvena met and married Theodore R. Carter. From this union were born four children. She worked as a cook at Presidio Restaurant in the Ocean View community of Norfolk Virginia for 25 years.
Edvena loved going to Waterside and being in the midst of all the festivals, concerts and events that came to Norfolk. She loved music; “blues” was her favorite. She also enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, New Jersey. She enjoyed watching all old shows on TV that she watched growing up, especially Sanford and Son.
Edvena loved her family, especially her grand and great-grand kids. Edvena had a loving heart for everyone she met.
Edvena is survived by her four children; 1 son, Alfred Carter (Carol). 3 daughters, Raynetta Somanya of Texas, Valerie Anderson, and Tanya Carter, both of Norfolk, VA. 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A brother, Jimmy Williams and Special Caretaker, Marie Mitchell. Nieces, Nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
