Louis Thomas Faison, Sr., 96 passed away on February 1, 2017. He was born in Margarettsville, North Carolina to the late Leroy and Lillie Branch Faison. Louis was educated in the Northampton County School System. At the age of 17, Louis moved to Franklin, Virginia and then to Norfolk, Virginia. In 1941, he married his childhood playmate, Mary Jennings from Seaboard, North Carolina.
In his early years, he was a boxer, and enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1941-1942 and worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard from 1942 to 1944. After he came to work at the Norfolk Naval Station, Public Works Center (PWC) in 1944, and served as a Motor vehicle operator leader. Additionally, Louis was a NAGE National Representative, and he established his own union and was the president. In 1995, he received a Career Service Award from the Secretary of the Navy for over 50 years of service.
Louis grew up in the church and accepted Christ as his Savior over eighty years ago at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Seaboard, North Carolina. He was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for over sixty years. Louis loved the Lord.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary J. Faison, daughter, Antoinette F. Hillian, and son Louis T. Faison Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Terry F. Williams, Kai E. Faison and daughter-in-law Veta B. Faison, Sisters: Gwendolyn Hall of Fort Washington, MD., Hilda Wooten of Washington,DC and Marion Jerman of Maryland, brothers: Rev John Drew, Robert Drew and Everette Drew of Washington,DC , seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and special friend Blondie Collins.
