Wilbert L. Riddick, Sr. passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the age of 78. He was born on January 20, 1939 to the late Nancy and Obediah Riddick, Sr. in Norfolk, Virginia. Wilbert graduated in 1957 from St. Joseph Catholic School in Norfolk, Virginia. Thereafter he received sheet metal training at Norfolk State University. Wilbert retired as a sheet metal worker from NORSHIPCO (BAE Systems) after over 30 years of service. He enjoyed spending time watching sports and was a proud Washington Redskins fan.
Wilbert was predeceased by his parents Nancy and Obediah Riddick, Sr. along with his sisters Rachel Ward, Gladys Hunt, Josephine Knight and Lenora Sutton. He leaves to cherish his beloved memory his brother Obediah Riddick, Jr.; six children Cynthia White (Duane), Wilbert Riddick, Jr., Tanya Riddick, Kim Riddick, Denise Jones and Ayishah Gordon; fiancée. Lois Thorogood; his close friends Hubert Dunston, Abner Willie and Vincent Newby; ten grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Viewing will be held from 1-6 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church Street Norfolk, VA 23504. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at United House of Prayer, 4426 Princess Anne Road Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 St. Julian Avenue Norfolk, VA 23504. Please join the family following interment for a repast at 208 E. Dexter Street Chesapeake, VA 23324.
