The Lord gave his servant Ella Beatrice Lamb the victory, opened the gates of heaven and gave her rest and peace. Today we are bringing closure to the earthly life of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend. “Bebe” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends was born in Norfolk, VA and was the daughter of the late William Henry and Gladys Styron Green. She was predeceased by her Daughter Yvonne Parker, Husband Emmett Lamb, Sisters Barbara Snowden, Lois Bolling and Lucille Matthews, and Brothers Carlton Green and William Green.
Ella is survived by her children Sandra Hall (Nicholas), Terrie Newsome (Levy) and Herbert Humphrey Jr. (Marsha), Brother Earnest “Bubba” Green (Della), Sister Patricia Wyche (Leonard), 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. She attended St. Josephs Catholic School, Norfolk State University and the University of New York. She worked for Sentara Norfolk General as a Registered Nurse and played a pivotal role in opening their burn trauma unit. She retired after 38 years of service and continued at Norfolk Community Hospital for 3 years in the nursery.
Ella was a devout catholic and loved singing in the choir at the Basilica of St Mary’s, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Peter Claver, the Catholic Daughters, Justice and Peace Ministry, Haitian Ministry and the Sowers of Justice. She loved reading, watching CNN, sports on TV especially tennis grand slams, Lifetime Movies on Sundays, Foreign Films on Netflix, pulling down the one armed bandit and taking cruises.
Ella was fun loving, had a great sense of humor and touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
