Obituary for Leroy Quartman

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation

After experiencing the favor of the Lord for ninety-eight years, Mr. Leroy Quartman, always displayed honor and grace, peacefully ascended from pain to reward on Friday, September 16, 2022. He was surrounded by his immediate family at his time of transition.

Born in Willamsport, PA on June 19, 1924 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Quartman (Arnia Collery), Leroy’s life unequivocally spoke of one purposed with the gifts of loving, caring, noble spirit. Leroy attended and graduated from the Williamsport, PA public schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in WWII as a private in infantry. Thereafter he graduated from trade school as an auto mechanic and then in turn, worked at the Philadelphia, PA shipyard.

Leroy married the late beautiful Ethel C. Quartman (Taylor)(Purvis) and had four beautiful children.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Arnia (Collery) Quartman and Erwin Quartman, wife Ethel Quartman; siblings: Mary Francis Quartman, Edward Quartman, Morris Quartman, Sylvester Quartman; his children: Alfred Purvis, Harold Purvis, Francine Quartman, Fredrick Quartman, and a list of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, Sons: Steve Purvis, Stanley Quartman, Sr., Charles Quartman, Grandchildren: Angela (Williams) Russell, (Buffy) and husband (Clyde Russell), Shamina McGill and husband Daainayal McGill, Sr., Stanley Quartman, Jr. and wife Betty Quartman, Nieces, Patricia R. Joseph, Kennita Joy Joseph and son (BJ), Bernard William-Jayce Elliott, Alexis Lans-Anita Joseph-Hayes, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and close friends far and near.

May his soul rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord!
