BettyJo Madonna Durant (née Blount) died in her home on March 8, 2018 in Norfolk, VA after an extended battle with cancer.

BettyJo was born on March 25, 1949 in Fleming, KY to her parents, Willie and Faye Blount. She grew up as the middle of three children and graduated from Evander Childs High School in Bronx, NY. She married John Durant in 1968 and the couple had three children before divorcing in 1982. Betty moved to Norfolk from San Antonio, TX in 1977 and retired from Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing in 2010. She dedicated her remaining time taking care of her family, shopping, and socializing with her many lifelong friends.

She will be ushered into Heaven by her parents, her older brother Bernard, her miscarried twins, her nephew Kenath, her ex-husband John and many other dearly departed relatives.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Phyllis; three sons, Shawn, Stephen, and Dandre; two grandchildren, Auriella (Stephen) and Asauntae (Dandre); one nephew, Lyvan, one great niece, Skye and many cousins, other family and lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or In Memoriam to EUMA Liberty House for Veterans.
