Obituary for Rudolph Allen Page Turner

Pastor Rudolph Allen Page Turner was born August 1,1950 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia to the late George and Rissan Turner. After the passing of his mother and father, he and his 2 younger siblings, John and Cindy Turner, were raised by their grandparents, Walter and Mae Mae Johnson. His beloved aunts, the late Alberta Eley and Ernestine Turner and his late uncle Stanley Turner also played very influential roles in his life.
His elementary school years began at Isle of Wight Academy. As a child, he became a member of Christian Home Baptist Church, where he began his many years of service for the Lord. He attended Westside High School and upon graduation attended St. Paul’s University in Lawrenceville, Virginia where he studied Business Administration.

Upon leaving college, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972 as a Radio Teletype Operator during his tour in Hanoi, Germany.

After his military service, Pastor Turner became a Trustee at Garrett’s Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Henry Nixon Jr. In 1975, he was elected to the Board of Deacons. He was later called to Pastor at Everlasting Life Ministries COGIC, where he was appointed to the office of Pastor by the Jurisdictional Bishop on May 11, 2010. He also served as a State Officer for the Church of God in Christ. Pastor Turner received a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Administration from the formerly named Rhema Seminary & Bible College.
During his life time, Pastor Turner held a plethora of careers which included: Retail Upper-Management, Travel and Insurance Agent, Tax Preparation, Business Owner and Home Loan Specialist. His last place of employment was with the Christian Broadcast Company where he served as the Human Resource Director and assisted in different departments, as well as conducting his weekly morning worship broadcast on the radio which aired live and could be heard from Virginia to California.

Pastor Turner worked diligently in the vineyard ministering to his flock for 8 years. His love for the Lord was evident in his service. He enjoyed studying the Word and leading his congregation. Each Sunday he delivered a message that inspired, encouraged, and taught about God’s word. His faith was strong and he didn’t mind sharing his testimonies of how God continually blessed him in his life.
Pastor Turner loved to take trips with his wife and friends, family vacations, church trips, and coordinate youth trips. Pastor Turner spent his life creating fun, happy and adventurous memories for his family and friends. He found great pleasure spending time with his family, especially his niece Rissan Major, grandchildren Myia Person, Osiris Chambers, Tony Jr. “TJ” Frazier, and great-grandson Micah Chaplin. On the weekends, he enjoyed family outings. He also enjoyed going down to the beach with his brother-in-law Joseph Hill, Jr. Pastor Turner also cherished his video communications with his daughter Alanna, son-in-law Tony and grandson Tony, Jr.

He was also an avid life-long Cowboys fan. He always enjoyed watching the games with his family even though he often was at odds with his Redskin’s loving daughter, 49er’s loving son, and Green Bay loving daughter, son-in-law and brother-in-law.

Sorrowfully recognizing his death, but joyfully reflecting on Pastor Turner’s life are his loving wife of 45 years, Evangelist Shirley Elizabeth Turner, three daughters – Paris Dishears Turner, Alanna Renee Frazier, Rissan Alberta Major, his son Rudolph Allen Page Turner II, three grandchildren –Myia Laniz Person, Osiris Chambers, and Anthony Izaijah Frazier “TJ” and one great-grandchild Micah Edward Chaplin. Pastor Turner was loved by his son-in-law Tony Frazier, a wonderful host of sister-in-laws (Fran, Linda & Teresa), nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and colleagues. Pastor Turner has been called home to minister with the angels and to reunite with his predeceased brother Reverend John Allen Turner Sr., sister Cynthia “Cindy” Loraine Major, beloved Aunt Alberta Eley, and parents George and Rissan Turner.
