Obituary for Albert Quincy Hardy

ALBERT QUINCY HARDY

22 February 1922 to 7 May 2018

Albert Quincy Hardy, the son of Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Lizzie Hardy was born in Norfolk, Virginia on 27 February 1922. He attended Norfolk’s public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1940. Mr. Hardy soon married his sweetheart Miss Louise Harris and to their union was born two children Joycelyn A. Hardy and Ulysses Q. Hardy.

Mr. Hardy began work at the Norfolk Naval Operations Base Supply Center in 1942 and continued his employment with numerous awards and distinctions until his retirement in 1980. Shortly after retiring from the Norfolk Naval Base Supply Center; Mr. Hardy began a second career at the Navy Resale and Services Support Office and Navy Exchange Service Center, Norfolk, Virginia where he worked an additional twenty years with distinction before retiring in 2001.

Mr. Hardy accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Bute Street where he remained a life-long member. Mr. Hardy was known as a kind and generous person who took great pride in his work, his family and his home.

Albert Quincy Hardy was predeceased by his parents and by four older brothers. He was also predeceased by his wife of 76 years, the late Mrs. Louise Harris Hardy. He leaves behind his beloved daughter Mrs. Joycelyn S. Carter (Rev. John K. Carter, Jr) and devoted son Ulysses Q. Hardy (Karon P. Hardy). He also leaves behind six grandchildren, eight-great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
