Retired United States Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Donald Howard Allen Jr., 69, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at his home in Virginia Beach, VA surrounded by his loving family. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 3, 1949 he was the son of Anna L. Allen and the late Reverend Donald H. Allen, Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Submarine service for 27 years.
Don will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and retired navy veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking pictures, and walking on the beach.

Funeral services will be held on at Coastal Community Church on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 10:00 am. A graveside service will be held at Albert G. Horton Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at 12:00 pm in Suffolk, VA with full military honors.

In addition to his mother, Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cathryn L. Allen; children Sandra A. Allen-Dansby (O. Fredric Dansby), Angela L. Schaeffer, Donald H. Allen III (Andrea M. Allen) of Texas, and Jacqueline L. Allen of New Jersey; brother Claudius C. Allen of Maryland; grandchildren, Brianna M. Dansby, Cathryn E. Dansby, Benjamin O. Dansby, Ashley N. Shockley (William N. Shockley), Joseph A. Schaeffer, Nyla M. Allen, Amara M. Allen, Anisa M. Allen, Donald H. Allen IV, and Zaylina M. Allen; and great-grandchild Cierra N. Shockley.
