Condolence: On SSBN 636, I got to know the true professional side of Don. But I got to know the man through the Girl Scouts in Groton. We spent a great time with the Troops our daughter’s and wive’s were in. I have the fond memory of his joyous laughter has he single handedly held a tent up while the rest of us hammered in the stakes after a high wind. He was a lovely man. He personified what people ought to envision when they see the title Master Chief Petty officer. As a tall man, I still recall with a smile seeing the occasional piece of his hair in a light cover in the Missile compartment during inspections, and I will forever fondly recall our bond of brotherhood.
