Obituary for Patricia Naomi Nellum (McCaffity)

Missionary Patricia M, Nellum, affectionately known as ‘The Pie Lady ‘was born on February 8, 1945 in Norfolk, VA to the late Mr. Luther and Charity McCaffity. As a youngster, she attended school in the Campostella area. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and served in ministry whole heartedly. She participated in the hospitality ministry, vacation bible school and served as an adjunct in the pulpit for many guest speakers. She soon found her profession in the food service industry. She worked 20 years as a nutritional specialist for Norfolk Public School board system and later retired as Lead Cook for plant personnel. Because of her love for people, she also served as a caretaker for several different families assisting them with their parents. She finally ended her career as a Cook for Ida Barbour Early Learning Center in Portsmouth, VA. She enjoyed cooking and people. Her firm belief was that food was good for the soul. She truly was an entrepreneur at heart, during her spare time she catered events and her specialty was weddings.

Missionary Patricia M Nellum was preceded by death by her late husband Mr. Aubrey Nellum Sr. and her ex-husband Mr. Clarence Wesley Waites Jr. and that union produced nine children. Surviving sons are as follows: Tyrone McCaffitty, Wesley, Christopher, Darnell (Tijuana), Reuben (Cenise), Jahn (Devona) and surviving daughters are as follows: Angela (Dalton) Demetria (Eli) Kymberly (Isaiah). She has 27 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish a host of nieces and nephews.
