Obituary for Karl Alexander Hill

Karl Alexander Hill 61, affectionately known as “Boot Hill” was born April 16, 1959 to the late Columbus and Marion Hill in Norfolk, Virginia. He passed from this life on Thursday October 25, in Suffolk, Virginia.

Karl graduated from Norview High School in 1977. He worked 25 years with the City of Norfolk and retired in 2011 from the Department of Streets and Bridges. After retirement he spent time with the Norfolk Navy Exchange, was a driver for the Sentara Pace Program and a currently a driver for T.A. Sheets, General Contractor in Norfolk, Virginia.

An avid sports fan, Karl played baseball with ILA 1248. He coached basketball for two seasons with the Fairlawn Recreation Center Fighting Tigers. He was a Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia 76’s and LA Dodgers fan. He enjoyed crabbing, horseshoes and playing cards in his spare time.

Karl is predeceased by his parents Columbus and Marion Hill, his sister Myra Hill, brother Alton Hill and his son Jordan Alexander Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Karen Hill of Norfolk, Sons, Karlos Skinner (Jakita) of Florida, Bryson Smith (Jacqueline) of Norfolk, Mike Hill of Chesapeake. His daughter Gwendolyn Mason of Norfolk. His Sister Glenise Morris (Rev. Gregory Morris) of Texas. His Grandchildren, Atiana Basnight, Azzari Smith, Amaya Smith, Kyla Skinner, Myra Hill, Khloe Skinner and Jeremiah Howell. A host of nephews, a niece, cousins and friends. Karl was also lovingly known as “Uncle Karl” to many who loved him. He was a true friend and neighbor and will be truly missed and never forgotten.
