On November 28, 2018, God sent His angels of mercy and they swiftly took our husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle home to his eternal rest.
James was born on July 14, 1956, to the late Paul and Mildred Dyson. He was lovingly raised by his mother and grandfather, James Milton Taylor.
James was a loving person who always made you laugh, play pranks and enjoyed life with his wide smile and boisterous laugh, which was quite infectious.
He joined First Baptist Church of Lamberts Point, at the age of four, pulled out of his mother’s lap, while he was asleep, by his sister, Pauletta, who was five, and who had decided for both of them, that they were joining church together.
He was grounded in faith at a young age. The last few months, as his oldest daughter, Terima, has stated, he had once again, accepted our Lord and Savior as his personal Savior and would repeatedly state how much he loved the Lord.
He had retired from the City of Norfolk, and until his demise, was employed at Didlake, Inc.
He joyfully married the love of his life, Pam, on July 28, 1978, at DePaul Hospital, where his grandfather was a patient, because James wanted him to be his best man. Out of this union they were blessed with three children.
James loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker and good provider and always offered unfailing love to his family. Even when times were hard and turbulent, his family always had a shelter over their heads and food on the table.
Pam and James had gone through some rough times during their relationship of 42 years. However, whatever they went through, they went through it together, which made their love and relationship bond even stronger.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Mildred Dyson; maternal grandparents, James & Ludie Taylor; paternal grandparents, William & Fanny Dyson; and sister, Paula (Pauletta’s twin).
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and best friend, Pam; two daughters: Terima Clark (Norman), and April Dyson-Riddick (Jason); one son, James William Dyson, Jr.; a sister, Pauletta Dyson Spruill; grandchildren: Cory & Quiera Bowe; Lamoray Dyson, Brooklynn Clark, and Ny’Asia & Ja’Mya Ward; one great-granddaughter, Jadyn Warmack; nephews: Donathan, Patrick & Justin Spruill; Ronnie Jr., Rodney Jr., & Maurice Jones; nieces: Venesha Harden, Melissa Jones-Quintanilla, Sharice & Celestine Jones; mother and father-in-law, Celestine and John Chambers; two brothers-in-law: Ronnie & Rodney Jones and other family and friends.
