Obituary for Linda Barron Turner (Barron)

On December 13th 2018 at the age of 62, God called her home to be with the Lord. She was born to the late Emmitt and Ola Barron. She was a graduate of Lake Taylor High School and she graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree from Norfolk State University. Linda lived her entire life in Norfolk, Virginia and was a faithful member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. She was a long- standing employee for 35 years with the US Government at Norfolk Naval Base; where she worked alongside her best friend Jackie Sawyer for many years. She worked under the command NAVFAC MIDLANT as a Financial Technician.

She was known for always making others laugh and feel at home around her. If you asked her how she was doing her favorite saying was “I’m holding on…..”. She kept her faith in God as she prayed for a kidney donor. She went to dialysis three times a week as she continued to work full time. This is just one of the many examples of the strength that she had inside her blood.

She is survived by a loving husband George R. Turner of Norfolk, and two

(2) beautiful daughters Matrika Edwards (Antwon), and Atira Williams (Porscha) of Virginia Beach. The memories of Linda will always be remembered by her beloved sister Marion Dukes (James Dukes III) of Harker Heights, Texas; with their sons James Dukes IV of Norfolk, and Marcus Dukes of Texas. Her special and close nephew James Dukes IV came by every Sunday for dinner and movies. She also leaves behinds her grandsons, Jaden and Jordan Edwards and Malik Riley; and one granddaughter Janessa Edwards. She will be truly missed by her best friend since high school Gail Turner. Her close cousins Century Dent and Emma Brown who visited her on a constant basis in the hospital are left to cherish her memories. Linda Turner was a women of many interests and gifts and will truly be missed by her friends and family.
