On December 26, 2018 Anna K. Simmons departed this life. (By her family she was lovingly referred to by her middle name Kathleen) After over 20 years of fighting the ravages of three strokes, God in his infinite mercy called her home to his rest.
Anna was born to Robert and Sarah Simmons on December 19, 1947 and was the only girl of four children. Though she was raised as Baptist, and after graduating from Booker T. Washington H.S. in Norfolk, Va. she decided to become catholic, and attended the Basilica of St Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Norfolk, Va. She later moved to New York City where she became a data entry operator until she became ill. After returning to Norfolk she was still able to work occasionally until her health again deteriorated.
Anna was predeceased by her mother and father and Brothers Willie and Raymond Simmons of Norfolk, Va. She leaves to mourn, her brother Arthur R. Simmons (Glenda) of Chesapeake, two nieces Melody R. Pinkney (Ezekiel) and Shakara S. Hampton (Rashaad) both of Northern Virginia, and nephew Arthur R. Simmons, Jr. (Adrienne) of Suffolk, Va., plus a host of cousins.
