Mary Louise Blankenship Sears departed this life on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Sentara Nursing Windermere at the age of 86 years old. She was born August 16, 1932 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Mary attended Norfolk County Schools, William Penn High School in High Point and she went to college at North Carolina Central.
Mary worked for Norfolk Redevelopment housing authority in Diggs Park and Oak Park for ten years. She went on to work for the YMCA and retired after 30 years.
Mary Pioneered the Portsmouth Chapter of the Eastern Star Organization. She was the Past Matron of the Gardenia Chapter #36.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Tully William Blankenship and Emma Tolton Blankenship; two brothers, Linwood Victor Blankenship and Samuel Alexander Blankenship; one sister, Velma Daily and her husband, Lawrence E. Sears, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Lawrence E. Sears, Jr. and Reginald Curtis Sears; one sister, Lois B. Wiggins; six grandchildren, Lawrence Deloatch, Dominique Vaughan, Deangelo Johnson, Regina Knight, Lacy Carter and Marcus Sears; four great grandchildren, Isaiah Coley, Elisha Coley, MaLiah Knight, and Leah Carter; one special great nephew, Reginal Wiggins, Jr. (Peter) as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
