Obituary for Charlie Freeman Billups Sr.

Charlie F. Billups, Sr. quietly went to be with The Lord on February 8, 2019. He was born to the late Cora and Theodore Billups, Sr. on July 16, 1945 in Norfolk, VA. Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and fought in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Navy/AMC Air Terminal Norfolk after 41 years of dedicated service. DJ Charlie B emerged after receiving an iPad with a DJ App to download and manage his music. He began to Disc Jockey for events across Hampton Roads. He exceptionally enjoyed providing music for Seniors in Motion, which combined his love of music and dancing. Charlie was an outdoorsman, tending to his yard and taking walks through the Norfolk Zoo and Botanical Gardens were a few of his pastimes. He was a member of Historic Queen Street Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife Yvonne Billups of 52 years; sons Charlie, Jr., and Theodore (Melanie); adopted son, Eddie Rodriguez (Ann); daughters, Courtney (Brendon) and Cicely (Omonte); grand-children, Marquel Billups, Areeon Foreman, Dante Wilson, Aleah Wilson, DeMarco Ward; adoptive grand-children, Jeremy Wilson, Bria Feathers, and Julia Rodriguez; great-grand children, Ayden Ramos and Prince Wilson; sister, Helen Tate; sisters-in-law, Judy Watford, Mary Billups, Bernice Wynn, and Rose Gatling (Phil); brother-in-law, Calvin Miller, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
