Obituary for Geraldine Nichols (Collins)

Geraldine Nichols silently slipped into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 28, 2019.
She was born February 5, 1932 in Atlantic, Virginia to the late Cora and James Collins. She attended primary school in Virginia and completed secondary school in New York City. Upon retiring from The General Electric Company, as a circuit card technician, she completed classes in Health Aid as well as the Bell Company Operators School. She entered the Baptist faith in early adulthood and joined the Disciples of Christ upon her return to Virginia. Gerry always loved the Lord with all her heart and expressed her faith willingly.
She met the love of her life and devoted husband Dal R. Nichols in Norfolk, Virginia and they were married on October 3, 1956 and enjoyed 46 years together before he predeceased her in July of 2002. With Dal being away at sea during his many years in the Navy, she took on the role as the Matriarch of the family and together Gerry and Dal raised six children; Timothy, Patricia, Dehart, Dal, Michael and Waymond, all will miss her dearly. Her many Grandchildren will remember her love for them and her playful sense of humor - she loved to laugh.
She loved her family unconditionally, sometimes with tough love, but none the less unconditionally. If you met Gerry once; you knew right away that she was a fervent Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed their success. Not only the Red Sox; if you were a team from New England, she was your number one fan.
With great sadness we gather to mourn the loss of our loved one, Gerry, but we also celebrate her release from her earthly bonds to ascend to her new life in heaven.
