Obituary for Jennie Mae Richards (Richards)
Jennie Mae Richards, 83, departed this life on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at her home in Norfolk, VA. Jennie was born May 17, 1936 to Nettie Easley and William Richards. She was the youngest of five children.
Jennie Mae Richards was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Jennie, as most called her, resided in Norfolk, VA but majority of her years were spent in Cleveland, OH. While living in Cleveland, OH she was a staple in the Hough Community. She was an advocate for creating a safe environment for the residents and children in the community. Her outreach and high spirit brought comfort to a place at a time that needed change. Her contributions included fundraising to provide amusement park trips to the children in the neighborhood, back to school drives, and volunteering in multiple community events. She was the mother of the neighborhood and her love was reciprocated throughout the community.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Elliot, mother Nettie Easley, father William Richards, and brothers Joe Richards, Rufus Richards, Eddie Richards, and George Richards.
She leaves to cherish memories: Daughters Mary Davis and Carol Nelson, six grandchildren, Anthony Davis, Sonia Watson, Michelle (Keith) Brown, Danielle Nelson, DeMarcus Davis, Shamberia Davis, eight great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
