James Edward Baker, 77, of Norfolk, VA entered eternal rest while at DePaul Medical Center, Norfolk, VA on January 23, 2020.
James was born on September 27, 1942 in Norfolk, VA, to the late Richard Baker and Ethel Edwards Baker Foskey.
James was educated in the Norfolk City Public School system and worked as a Carpenter with the Navy Public Works Center, Norfolk, VA. He later started his own business performing a variety of home improvements and repairs.
James was a member of Wesley Union AME Zion Church of Norfolk, VA. In his leisure time, James enjoyed reading, working on cars and engaging in conversations with people about life trials and tribulations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Baker and Ethel Edwards Baker Foskey; a sister, Doreatha Payton; a brother, Richard Baker Jr; and a daughter, Linda Weaver.
He is survived by his brother, Ralph Foskey Jr. (Judith) of Norfolk, VA and a sister, Christine Foskey-Brown (Alonzo) of Suffolk, VA.
James also leaves to cherish his memories his children, Jacqueline Weaver (Gerald Marve) of Mount Morris, MI; Brenda Weaver of Norfolk, VA; Ethel Shepherd (Richard) of Norfolk, VA and grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
