On Wednesday, February 12, 2020 while at home with his loving wife and supportive family, Ernest L. Bray Jr. peacefully fell asleep in death.
Ernest was born on October 8, 1962 in Lafayette, LA to the late Ernest L. Bray Sr. and Margaret Bray. Ernest was pre-deceased in death by his sister Stephanie Lynn and his brother John Wayne.
Ernest was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 19, 1980. He had the privilege of serving as an Elder in the Great Bridge Congregation.
Ernest was a graduate of Franklin High School in Franklin, LA. He retired from Cavalier Ford Lincoln Inc. in Chesapeake, VA after working over 25 years in the auto industry where he loved to sale cars. He was a true New Orleans Saint Fan “WHO DAT NATION.” Ernest loved music, and he loved to dress. He was known for his “sock game” and neck ties. Ernest loved to ride motorcycles. He was always ready to hit the road and travel with his wife.
Ernest touched many lives in an exceptional way. Many young ones looked to him as a father figure. He was always willing to give wise and valuable advice to those who needed it.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Gwendolyn and his children Gilovonna Williams (Cornelius) of Chesapeake, VA. Tywone Griffin (Bryan) of Chesapeake, VA. Gavin Bray of LA. Michelle Wims (Kenya) of Chesapeake, VA. Lindsey Bray of LA. Ingrid Mitchell (Davarious) of Bryant, Arkansas. Shaneika Square of Chesapeake, VA and 6 bonus children Annie, Abby, Amy, Clay, Danielle and Erin. He is also survived by two sisters Earline Bray of Franklin, LA. Tanzie Perrodin of Lafayette, LA. Two brothers Clayton Phillips of LA. Steve Bray (Denise) of Chesapeake, VA and a sister in law Dorethea Figueroa (Eddie) of Virginia Beach, VA and his 13 grandchildren. Along with a host of relatives, aunts, friends, nephews, nieces and cousins.
