Obituary for Marion Duck (Jenkins)

Marion J. Duck, affectionally known as "Shug" was granted her angel wings on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at 4:46 pm. Marion was one of eight children born to the late Glennie and Allen Jenkins on June 5, 1936.
Marion was born and raised in Murfreesboro, NC and was a student of Hertford County Public Schools. After completing her education, she relocated to Norfolk, VA with her late husband Arthur L. Duck Sr. Norfolk is where she established her home, worked full time, and retired as an environmental specialist.
Marion was a devoted mother and grandmother, she was the matriarch of the family. She diligently worked to provide for her family and expended her energies rearing her ten children and several grandchildren. She was a mother who loved her children without limits and always did what was best for them, including discipline. She loved each of her children according to who each one is and was still able to love them all the same. Marion's children never went without the things they needed, and she made them all feel special. Now, that's LOVE!
Marion's heart was so big because it was filled with overflowing love of family, friends, and anyone whom she encountered. Her giving and loving nature led her to help others in need. She cooked and fed countless people, especially those whom she welcomed into her home. She loved good food and made sure that everyone around her enjoyed it as well. Marion loved and sacrificed her last so that others would have their needs met.
Marion was resilient, a tenacious woman who persevered through heartbreak, loss, and sickness to ensure that her work was done. She did it all with love and with a smile. She was predeceased by her four sons Richard, Arthur Jr., Randolph, and Charles Duck. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers Edward, McKinley, Paul, and Allen Jenkins Jr., as well as, her two sisters Louise Sutton and Bernice Jenkins.
Marion was family-oriented and always put her family first. She lived a life of love and left a legacy of love. This life, this legacy, this love will be forever cherished by her children Ronald, Donald (Torra), James, Melvin, Marian Pree, and Carolyn Duck. Shug loved spending time with her family and she adored her sister Thelma Jenkins Chatmon. Marion is leaving everlasting memories with countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a special goddaughter Daphne "Liz" Powell, and many friends that will be treasured forever.
