Obituary for Keith Lavoid Matthews Jr.
Mr. Keith L. Matthews, of Norfolk, Virginia, sadly passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the age of 48. Keith was born on August 29, 1971 in East Saint Louis, Missouri and grew up in Springfield, IL. Keith later moved from Springfield, IL to Norfolk, Virginia.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often showed. He was a bright and kind man who had an immense passion for life. Anyone who knew Keith knew that he was the most loving relative and friend anyone could ask for. In 2020, he became a member of Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church.
Keith will be loved and profoundly missed by his significant other Elnora (Molly) Boone; three brothers, Raymond C. Scott Jr. (Alma Scott), Charles S. Searcy (Johnette Searcy), and Kevin N. Matthews; and two aunts Glynis Rozzell-Roberts and Paula Harris; three step-children Dion L. Boone (Vivian Ford), Likehea L. Overton (James Overton) and Tehran Boone; and eight step grandchildren whom he loved deeply. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Carolyn S. Searcy and his father, Joe White.
Due to COVID-19 we are unable to have a memorial service that would accommodate all of Keith’s family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a public visitation on Thursday, May 14, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Graves Funeral Home, located at 1631Church Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23504. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Graves Funeral Home.
