Obituary for Marilyn Francine Hester (Shouse)

Marilyn Francine Hester was born on November 24, 1947 to Fannie Mae and George Franklin Shouse in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the seventh of fifteen children. She confessed Christ and was baptized at the age of 9 years old at True Gospel Tabernacle pastored by the late District Elder Elijah Hunt. She departed this life on May 20, 2020.

Marilyn was a 1966 graduate of Wiley High School. She worked for Columbia Records in Terre Haute before she was united in marriage to Nathaniel Hester on June 28, 1974, in Indianapolis, Indiana where they lived and attended Grace Apostolic Church pastored by the late Bishop Morris E. Golder until December of 1988. She exemplified commitment and devotion through many auxiliaries in the church. In November of 1988 she moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan where her husband transferred with Chrysler Corporation. There they attended Greater Grace Cathedral pastored by the late Bishop David L. Ellis until the Lord let them to Berea Family Tabernacle pastored by Elder Rosezell Rutley in July 1995. Marilyn was appointed to the position of Director of Christian Education at Berea, and started Junior Church in February of 1996. Upon her husband's retirement in September 1999, they moved to Virginia Beach, VA where they attended Abundant Life Ministries and Marilyn served as Ministries Administrator, and Christian Principles teacher. In April 2001 they moved their membership to Calvary Revival Church under Pastor Courtney B. McBath. Marilyn began working as general secretary at Calvary Christian School System in July of 2003. In January 2004 she joined St. Paul Deliverance Center Church where they remained until her death.

She was preceded in death by her mother-- Fannie Mae Shouse, her father-Elder George Shouse, three sisters-- Deborah Shouse, Lynette Shouse, and Janice Warren,and three brothers--Lindsey Shouse, George Shouse, and Larry Forte. She leaves to mourn, her husband-- Nathaniel Hester Sr., six step children-- Nathaniel Hester Jr., Cynthia Abdullah, Sherri Ligon, Marsha Murphy, Linda Hester, and Dwayne Hester all of Indianapolis, Indiana, one brother-Arnick Shouse of Terre Haute, Indiana, eight sisters--Patricia Stewart and Hazel Fortson of Terre Haute, Indiana, Carole Looney and Rita Woods of Indianapolis, Indiana, Elaine Waller and Rebecca Lay of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lillie Smith of Hampton, Virginia, and Sheila Fairbanks of Charlotte, North Carolina, three God sons-- Calvin Burnett of Pontiac, Michigan, Brandon Callaway of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Marcus James of Valencia, California, a very special God daughter-Journey Pulley of Virginia Beach, VA, Journey's siblings-- Demetrius Hudgins, Jaylen Hudgins, and Kennedy Lewis of Virginia Beach, several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Marilyn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
