Obituary for John Thomas Allen
John Thomas Allen of Norfolk, Virginia heard his last role call on earth and answered The Master’s Heavenly Call on June 25, 2020 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as he transitioned from labor to reward. John was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Johnnie and Pauline Allen August 8, 1940. He attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.
John met and married Barbara Williams Allen. He was the father of three, Sandi Nobles, Demetrius Washington and Josephine Loury. Aside spending time with family and friends, John loved to listen music.
John worked long and hard at the shipyard for over twenty years and then went on to be a Merchant Seaman for ten years. He hailed to the nick name ‘Cock John’.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Pauline Allen and brother in law, Sylvester Lindsey.
John leaves to cherish his memories children he was honored to father, Sandi Nobles, Demetrius Washington and step – daughter, Josephine Loury; granddaughter, Ebonie Flournoy; siblings, Mable Green Mc Donald and her husband, Marshall Mc Donald (Fayetteville NC), Agnes Cady and her husband, Charles Cady(Grayson, Georgia), Audrey Allen (Norfolk, VA), Lorenzo Allen and his wife, Cynthia Allen (Norfolk, VA), Linda Lindsey (Norfolk, VA), Delores Lindsey and her husband, John Lindsey (Virginia Beach, VA) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and communities of friends.
