Obituary for David George Code Jr.
David G. Code, Jr., better known as “Baby Jim" was born on October 18, 1930. He passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020 peacefully at home with family at the age of 89. David received a scholarship to play football at Norfolk State University but decided to go into the United States Air Force where he served in Japan.
David was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church where he served on Usher Board #1 and Male Usher Board #1.
He retired in 1987 after 37 years from the United States Postal Service, Special Delivery.
In his free time, David enjoyed a number of leisure activities such as, swimming, gardening, bike riding, traveling, and jazz.
Preceded in death by his parents David Code and Helen Code; his wife, Vera Beslow Code; son, Christopher G. Code and sister, Nina Toppins.
He is survived by his three children, David Code, III, Selina Code-Edwards, and Jeffrey C. Code; his siblings, Viola Riddick, and Curtis Code; two grandchildren, Christina S. Code and Autumn V. Edwards; one great grandchild, Isaiah M.C. Zewuge as well as a host of nieces, relatives and beloved friends.
