Obituary for Alice Palmer Mitchell (Palmer)
Alice P. Mitchell, 84 years of age, of Norfolk, VA passed away on Friday July 24, 2020.
Funeral services will be held 11:00, Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church Street, Norfolk, VA 23504. Pastor Larry Williams Sr. of Olive Grove Baptist Church, officiating. The burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens 6309 East Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
Alice P. Mitchell was born in Norfolk, VA to Solomon T. Palmer and Virginia Watford on September 23,1935. Alice was a high school graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk, VA. She graduated from Norfolk State University. She gave 22 years of devoted service with the U.S. Department of Navy, as a Fleet locator for the U.S. Government she received various awards, letters and achievements.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Palmer Watford and Solomon Taft Palmer; three brothers Solomon T. Palmer, Jr. (Bubba), Lewis Palmer, and Robert Palmer.
She leaves to cherish her memory five sisters, Ernestine P. Reid, Marie P. Evans, Caroline P. Heyward (Isaac), Cynthia P. Simpkins (Bobby), all from Norfolk. Vera P. Moore of Baltimore; two brothers, Mark Palmer (Phyllis) of Arkansas, William Palmer (Lucy) of Virginia and one aunt, Clarice Smith of New York.
Alice is survived by daughter, Maria C. Bales (Charles) of Tennessee; sons Curnel A. Hall,Sr. (Maria Ligan-Hall) and Edsel W. Hall, Jr. of Norfolk VA; six grand children; five great grand children as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
