Obituary for Ruby Braxton Parker

Our mother Ruby Parker, whom we will miss dearly, was quietly lifted from this life and tenderly carried away to her heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A humble but proud homemaker for all of her life, she was well known in the neighborhood as the mother of many who kept us well dressed as she earned that label herself. In her last employment she retired from a local daycare center as a dietician. A long time, faithful member of First Calvary Baptist Church, she served as a past president of the former Gospel Choir; a treasurer of the Dr. Isaac Watts Choir, a member of the Maggie Davis Sunday school class, and a member of the Woman’s club. She was a member of the Huntersville Senior club as well. She was married to George L. Parker for many years, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her son Dalton Braxton and her daughter Kimberly Braxton, each of whom she loved very much.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Kenneth Braxton (Winetta); seven daughters, Patricia Earle, Hollace Williams (John), Iantha Spalding (Jessie), Sharon Hill, Andree Teague (Ronald), Barbara Smallwood (Isaac) and Valencia Parker; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, her best buddy, Mamie Harvey, and other relatives and friends who will grieve for a time in this season.

Mom’s memory will always be cherished and remembered by her family. Her favorite hymn was His Eye is on The Sparrow, for she knew over all her years He watched over her!
