Obituary for Willis Ray Winslow Sr.

Willis Ray Winslow of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away on September 18, 2020 at the age of 71. Willis, affectionately known by some as Willie Ray was born on November 8, 1948 to the late Lucius Winslow and Mattie (Revell) Winslow. He was educated in Norfolk Public School System and went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He graduated from Norfolk State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He was employed by the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Norfolk General Hospital, and the City of Chesapeake.

Willis took a huge interest in exploring his family history and tracing his roots. He was also a New England Patriots fan and was often seen wearing his favorite Patriots hat. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Veronica Winslow, children Willis “Ray” Winslow, Jr., Dante Winslow, Andre Winslow, David Winslow, Adam Winslow, Angela (Dartanyon) Biggs, and Lavonia (Derek) Miller; 13 grandchildren Devan Winslow, Nickolis Winslow, Donovan Winslow, Mikhayla Winslow, Ryce Winslow, Dailani Winslow, Dante Winslow, Jr., Drake Winslow, David Winslow, Jr., Damaris Winslow, Jaydyn Stevens, Jaxon Biggs and Daenerys Winslow; his sister Shirley (James) Forte; his uncle Lester Revell; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace, our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
