Obituary for Gwenisha Collins (Dantzler)
Gwenisha Collins was born on November 18, 1976 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Freddie Ayers Sr and surviving Mother Loretta Ayers. Gwenisha spent her whole childhood and most of her adult life in Brooklyn, NY until moving to Harrisburg, PA where she met her first husband Norman Stovall III. Gwenisha, later moved to Norfolk, VA where she met and eventually married Devon Collins.
Gwenisha, also known as Nish, Gwennie or Gwen was always pursing her education despite all odds attending Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York, Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Bryant & Stratton College in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Gwenisha was a professional working in Behavioral Health,as a Property Manager for CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), and as a customer service representative (Military Sales) for Geico Insurance, where she met her good friend Jason Inge. Gwenisha also pursued her lifelong dream to become a teacher, teaching at Tanners Creek Elementary School in Norfolk, Virginia as a long termed substitute teacher. There was “NOTHING” Gwenisha would not do to take care of her family. Lastly, Gwenisha was an Author of several books and short stories.
Gwenisha was committed to her family and close friends. She loved to party/entertain making everyone feel good despite times when she did not. Locked doors did not exist with Gwenisha. Animals, friends, children and most importantly family were always welcomed. Gwenisha loved music, singing, and looking cute! She was a book worm and everyone’s rock. The peacemaker for the family.
On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, Gwenisha was called home by her heavenly Father. She leaves behind Her grandmother Marilyn Dantzler and Mother Loretta Ayers. Husband Devon Collins. Four Children, Markeem, Malakai, Niana, Devon Jr., stepdaughter K-Vonya Jordan and one Grandchild (Her Buddha) Giovanni Stovall. Mother and Father-in law Robert and Lendia Young. Brother and Sisters-Twaina Barton, Freddie Ayers Jr., Rashie Dantzler, Tania Dantzler and Cassandra Ayers. Sister-in-laws: Tina and Vanessa Collins. Gwenisha is also survived by Aunts and Uncles-Dennis, Mitchell, Gregory, Gwendolyn, Deborah. Nieces and Nephews-Desmond, Donovan, Zanya, Gia, Khalil, Nayanne, Neriyah, Jordan, Josiah, Jada, Demetrius, Chace, Nubia, Cameron, Brooklyn and Englan. In conclusion, a host of loved cousins and friends. In closing her “Best Friend of over 30 years Tracy Wallace of Brooklyn, NY” and Jason Inge “Best friend of over 10 years, of Norfolk Virginia.
