Obituary for Brack Sessoms Jr.
Brack Sessoms, Jr. was born on May 31, 1941 in Ahoskie, North Carolina.
He was called to rest by The Lord on November 19, 2020 and transitioned
at Chesapeake General Hospital. His parents, Ruby Mae Askew Sessoms
and Brack Sessoms, Sr., preceded him in death.
Brack Junior, as he was affectionately called by all who knew him, was
respectful and very caring of others. He was a special individual that
enjoyed life and marched to his own drum beat. Where ever he went
he was quick to gain friendship, respect, and understanding of those he
met. Although he was unable to drive or use public transportation by
himself, many were amazed by his frequent visits and places he would
be seen alone. In other words, for him walking was no problem. He got
around and was well known. Brack was a very good dancer. In addition,
he enjoyed bowling and doing puzzles. But most of all, he loved music,
family, and friends.
During Brack’s early education, he spent four years at Hampton Training
Services, Hampton, Virginia, for challenged individuals. Upon leaving
Hampton, he entered a training program by Community Alternatives
in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was recognized and received awards as a
dependable and dedicated worker. After his stay there, Brack spent 16
years at Eggleston Services Day Program, where he received training and
participated in extra curricular activities. During this period he became a
resident of AA&G Group Homes of Portsmouth, Va. Brack’s final stay was
with Eggleston Civitan Group Home, Chesapeake, Va., Mary Sams Lodge,
Norfolk, Va., and Jamie Tabb-Harper Health Services, Chesapeake, Va.
Cherishing Brack Junior’s memories are his sister Mrs. Eunice Sessoms
Brandon and brother-in-law James M. Brandon of Fort Washington,
Maryland; two nieces Andrea Lynn Brandon and Tamara Lori Brandon
of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; one nephew James M. Brandon, Jr. of Fort
Washington, Maryland; great nephews Liam and Mallone Slaughter and
a great niece Rumaea Slaughter of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; and a host
of other relatives and friends.
