On Saturday, November 21, 2020 Tonya Yolanda Wilkins answered her final role call on earth. As she heard the call of the Master’s voice, she transitioned from labor to reward in her home with family at her side. Tonya was born September 8, 1971 in Norfolk Virginia to her parents, Donald Lee Wilkins, Jr. and Edith Mae Wilkins.
Tonya grew up in Norfolk and graduated form Norview High School in 1990. She was known to many as “YoYo”.
Tonya had many interests which included family, cooking, dancing, doing hair, positive energy and helping people out. She loved her grandchildren. It was common practice that she was cooking a meal for them.
Tonya was known for her cooking in her community. She didn’t know a stranger. She would strike up a conversation with almost anyone and willing to offer a helping hand.
No matter where Tonya lived or where she moved to it was easy for someone to fall in love with her kind spirit and positive attitude. She enjoyed people and making memories of time well spent.
Tonya will forever be loved and dearly missed yet she truly was a devoted person. Tonya was a a ray of light with positive energy. She was a loving mother, grandma, sister and friend.
Tonya leaves to cherish her memory her children, Chasity A. Wilkins, Jasmine S. Wilkins, Dre’sha M. Wilkins and Tiara Wilkins; her grandchildren, Gabriella Barbour, Isabella Barbour, Amaya Robinson, Darrell Robinson, Jr., Nailah Fauntleroy, Kailah Fauntleroy, Kamyyn Walls, Darrick Walls, Ava Walls, Aiden Walls and Gaisele Walls; her mother, Edith M. Wilkins; her father, Donald L. Wilkins; her siblings, Donald L. Wilikins, Mariah Wilkins, Kizzy Wilkins and Deshanne Wilkins as well as extended family and friends.
