Michael “Small Burger” Irwin Hicks, Sr. born February 24, 1955 passed away February 14, 2021 in his hometown of Norfolk, VA. A man who graced us with his humor and whit at any unexpected moment is now at rest with our Lord and Savior. He is a graduate of Lake Taylor High School; soon after, he made the decision to serve as a dedicated soldier in the United States Army. During his military service, he met his loving and dedicated wife Shirley Hicks. The couple created their family in love and returned to his hometown, Norfolk, VA. After returning home, he became an employee at MDV Nash Finch for over thirty years where he retired. He enjoyed movies of all kind, good food and being with family and friends. He leaves behind a loving wife of 43 years Shirley Hicks and a Son Chevy Hicks. Granddaughters Shameya Hicks, Tykia Shearrin and one grandson Michael I. Hicks, IV. Mr. Hicks has now walking alongside his son Michael I. Hicks, III in heaven. He also leaves behind a Sister, Arlene Barksdale (Edward); Brother Mark Hicks (Angela) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
