So sorry to hear of the passing of Daphne. We went to middle school and high school together. She was a nice young lady. Family, please keep her memories close to your hearts always, as I will. May God be with you doing this time of sorrow.

The Edwards' clan consisting of my wife, Rev. Dee , three adult daughters , two son-in-laws , eight grandchildren , two great grandsons and myself wish to offer our condolences to the family of Daphine Elizabeth Powell . " Liz " and I were paternal first cousins , children of two brothers, her father Ivory and my father, James Edwards, Jr. Liz and I met briefly when we were children , but years apart ,so we didn't really get to know one enough until we were adults. With her personality and beautiful smile we instantly became friends , yet still not spending that much time together. I shall truly miss her but will not let her memory fade from my mind. Rest in peace cousin Liz.

Retired Pastor of New Rose of Sharon, Ches.

It is with a heavy heart that I express my fondness of Mrs. Daphne Powell. She was a very good co-worker and I was privileged to hire her to the Department of Engineering at Norfolk State University. She was extremely reliable on the job and she had a sweet spirit and a very pleasant smile and her sense of humor was great. When she needed to straighten matters out, she straightened them out :). I will truly miss her, but she has transitioned to a place where there are no more sorrows, worries, fears, doubts and restlessness. May God bless the family and continue to hold you in the hollow of His unchanging hands. God Bless! Humbly submitted - Ms. Anita E. Brabson

To The Family of Daphne "LIZ" Barnes.
There are many things that I can say, but my most fundies memory of "Liz", better known as Pam and Wanda's God mom. So that you know, I call her Liz. I am not sure what year it was but in the early 70s. Liz had gotten married to Larry, and she took Rodney, Angela, Wanda, and myself to Fort Bragg N.C. to stay for one summer. We hated being there and wanted to come back t Norfolk and she said no, not yet! So, we decided to take some ropes and tied them together and call ourselves running away or walking away back to Norfolk. We did even make it to the next block without being tired (of course, you know Carolina's miles are very long from house to town).
Remembering LIZ wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in each of our hearts. May she rest in peace!
