Australia's Journey
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27 NLT
Australia A. Lightfoot was born on October 21, 1937 to the union of the late Australia and Rita Lightfoot in Norfolk, VA. He was the only child gifted by God to his parents. Australia accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Calvary Baptist Church.
Australia Lightfoot, affectionately known as "Good Buddy" received his formal education in the Norfolk Public School System. Australia graduated from Booker T. Washington High School where he met his sweetheart and long-life companion, Sylvia. To this union was born his only child Gayle. He also attended Norfolk State University for three years, where he was working towards his bachelor’s degree in Math. He worked as a rigger with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where retired after 27 years. For those who knew him he loved is wife's cooking once she learned how to cook, playing cards and board games, and collecting antiques as his wife would say junk.

He leaves to cherish a legacy of love and memories to—his very dedicated, devoted and loving wife Sylvia D. Lightfoot, their only daughter Gayle C. Odum, their only granddaughter Jobenia Odum Parker and son-in-law Demarkus Parker, only great-granddaughter Amanni Odum-Darden and three great-grandsons Marquis, Bryce and Breon and a host other relatives and friends.
