Obituary for James Edward Heckstall

James Edward Heckstall aka Uncle Jimmy was born Christmas Day 1951 to Ernest and Mary Heckstall in Bertie County, North Carolina and he went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2021.

Jimmy was a native of Norfolk, Virginia. He attended Norfolk Public Schools where he graduated from Booker T. High School.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Heckstall; a brother, Leonard Heckstall and a nephew, Leonard Gallashaw.

Jimmy’s life legacy continues with two children, Donna Jean Cook and James Brian Sanders; a great grandson, Todd Cook as well as two great great grandkids, Todd Cook, Jr. and Tod’je Cook.

Jimmy is survived by two brothers, EL Heckstall and Jerome Heckstall; nieces Lenise, Lynette, and Lynea Gallashaw.

Jimmy studied the Nation of Islam. Most of his days were spent making others smile and busting a move. He loved his music. He loved his nieces and nephews greatly. Huntersville hop-N-Go was his hang out spot.
Jimmy was a soldier; he lived well to be his age and loved a good walk, Western, and a cold brew.

Those who knew Jimmy loved him, but the Lord loved him more.
