Obituary for Ella May Elizabeth Person (Gilchrist)
On Saturday, June 26, 2021, a rose was picked from the garden, called home to eternal peace. Ella Elizabeth May Gilchrist Person, known as “Moochie” was born March 21, 1937. She was born to the late Thomas Lee Gilchrist and Luethear Hicks Gilchrist. She attended Middle School and married to the late Howard Lee Person at a very early age. Ms. Ella M. Person was well known by the Broadlawn Community for over 50 years. She was dearly loved by her family and church family.
She is survived by predeceased husband, Howard L. Person and daughter, Sylvia Smith and six daughters, Glennis Scruggs, Mary Johnson, Vanessa Whitehurst, Barbetta Buford, Ella Flora and stepdaughter Helen McInnis and one son, Edward L. Person. Also, she left predeceased sisters, Hope Poole, Jessie Mae Campbell, Mary Hicks and brother, Bobby Gilchrist. She also has surviving three brothers, Thomas L. Gilchrist Jr., Marvin Gilchrist, and Gene Gilchrist. She is loved by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces. She was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
