Obituary for Althea Evans - Covington (Evans)

Althea was born on August 3rd, 1954 to Linwood and Ruth Evans in Bronx, New York. She comes from a big family and as the eldest of ten children, she was more than just a big sister, she was like a second Mother…giving out the occasional spanking when necessary. She loved her family and friends, never forgetting a birthday, Anniversary or special day.
Mommy was educated in the New York City public School System and went on to receive her degree in Gerontology from Hostos Community College. Even through Mommy’s passion was working with the elderly she went on to work with the New York Public School System as a teacher for Special Education students and after many years she retired.
On May 11,1979 she married Clarence Covington Jr, this union brought four children, Christina Jones, Lakisha Faith Cooper (Adrian), Tiffany Mae Covington and Clarence Covington 3rd (Reesa). Clarence Jr passed in 2000 and Mommy got remarried in 2004 to Reginald Skeete Sr, to this union she gained two children, Reginald Skeete Jr and Princess Skeete. Reginald Sr passed in 2013.
On October 22, 2021, Mommy went to join her father, mother, her sister Regina Evans and her brother Joe Kenneth Evans.
She leaves to cherish her memory 10 grandchildren: Kevin Fowler Jr, Joshua Collins, SirDarius Fowler, Layla Faith Collins, Josiah Clarence Covington, Timothy Collins, Mckenzie Althea Ahlaya Fowler, Jaliyah Faith Covington, Lauren Raye Skeete and Laylah Nichol Skeete.
Three sisters: Deloris Moore (Ronald Moore), Ruth Hazel Evans (Anthony Brightman) and Artrell Covington (Marlon Campbell), four brothers: Kevin Evans(Gail Evans), Anthony Evans, Dale(Peter) Evans(Angela Evans) and Dwayne Evans.
Four Aunts: Majorie Horace, Johanna Scott, Irene Gamble, Bernice McFadden and Ottie Evans. Four uncles: Joe Lewis Evans, Llyod Scott, Gerald Scott and Johnny Horace and a host of cousins.
Mommy was blessed to be an Auntie to her Nieces and Nephews, 34 to be exact. She was and still is an amazing Woman and will truly be missed. Mommy we will continue to love YOU to the moon and back!!!
