Obituary for George Wiggins Sr.

George Wiggins Sr. departed this life on May 3, 2022. He was born to the late James and Viola Wiggins. At an early age George accepted the Lord as his savior and joined Shiloh Baptist Church of North Carolina.

After leaving North Carolina, he relocated to Norfolk, Va. with his uncle Ralph and aunt Mercie Whitaker and met his wife LLewell R. Brown whom he married and from this union four children were born. After marriage he joined First Baptist Church, Bute Street, Norfolk, Va. He was employed by the Department of Health Vector Control as a groundman for approximately 17 years, then retiring and was self-employed until his health failed.

George was predeceased by his parents: James and Viola Wiggins, son George Wiggins Jr., brother Johnny Wiggins, uncles Ralph and Forest Whitaker, stepsons Willie Arthur Griggs and Dyson Marion Jones and brother- in- law George L. Rainey and first cousin Maezolla Wilkins.

He is survived by his Daughters: Sarah M. Richardson, Virginia Beach, Va., Carrie V. Wiggins, Decatur Ga., Daughter Yvette L. Wiggins, Norfolk, Va., George Wiggins, Norfolk, Va., Stepsons: William A. Griggs, Robert C. Griggs and step daughter Roberta L. Parker, Sister Rosa E. Rainey and God sister Angela M. Grant, Niece Yvette Boxley, Nephew Johnny Wiggins, son – in- law Raymond Richardson, significant other: Lolita Cummings and daughters Karen and Valerie Cummings, six grandchildren, Dyson Wiggins, Chavon Gardner, Romelo Wiggins, Victoria O’Brien,[Timothy] Shelby Richardson, Teona Wiggins, three great grandchildren, Cousin: Susan Whitaker, and other relatives and friends.
